The sandy desert surrounding the town supports wild grasses and occasional day palms. Desert hyacinths increase in the sabkha plains east of the city, whilst acacia and ghaf trees develop inside the flat plains in the proximity from the Western Al Hajar mountains. Many indigenous trees like the day palm and neem as well as imported trees including
